Acton Beard is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Supervisor for Professional Counselors, and a clinical member
of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. She uses a variety of theoretically-based therapy interventions
and is available for individual, couple, and family counseling sessions by appointment. Her experience as a devout
Christian adds a significant spiritual dimension to her work for those who desire it. One of her passions is "Inner
Healing" prayer counseling.
Jim is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of South Carolina, has a Masters Degree in Mental
Health Counseling, and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and the American Counselors Association.
He is available for individual, couple, and family counseling sessions by appointment.
Acton and Jim often work together with couples for intensive retreats or sessions that focus on communication techniques
and training to facilitate the breaking of ineffective or destructive habits, replacing them with new behaviors that
create positive couple engagement. As a couple, the two of them are almost opposites in personality and temperament, and when
working together on a retreat, they create an insightful and dynamic therapeutic experience that is unique to counseling.
Acton & Jim believe that God has a plan for each of us (Jer. 29:11) and He is the healer and redeemer of anything
that has caused our compromised and unfulfilled life experiences. God is faithful, and wants our marriages to be
joyful and fulfilling. With His Grace and some training to facilitate new behaviors, we can have the kind of marriage
we have hoped for, and longed for. Forgiveness, acceptance, and effective communication can create the atmosphere
that will change attitudes and bring hope to a stalled or threatened marriage.
